Mobile Shelving – Project Overview
An existing Mobile Shelving installation at a Leading University in Bristol had a serious water leakage in the summer of 2022 in their Books and Materials Library.
The Wooden infill and packers became water damaged so the whole system became in-operative and had to be replaced.
All of the valuable Books and Archive had to be temporarily moved away to a safe location.
Client Challenges – A Quick response and the fastest installation possible.
The client asked us for a competitive quotation, a secure and efficient storage solution to safeguard the valuable Books and Manuscript collections.
Key challenges included:
- Time Constraints: The Collection had to be offloaded and temporarily stored off site. It was critical to have the new Mobile System installed within four to five weeks
Solution Implementation
Storwell Systems provided expertise to the consultants engaged by the University by designing a better design of both Mobile shelving and static bays of shelving lifting aal the bottom shelf levels to over 150mm clearance from the floor.
Any future water ingress incident then would not poise any danger of damage to the Universities Archive of materials.
Over 100 bays of capacity was manufactured, supplied and installed including a bespoke wall mounted Mesh Art racking system.
